Scholarships for international students in Belgium 2022

There are a number of scholarship programs in Belgium for international students 2022, particularly for students from developing countries. For foreign students who wish to pursue further studies in Belgium, the Belgian Government offers scholarships in order to foster development cooperation.

VLIR-UOS Training and Masters Scholarships

Students from selected developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America are awarded scholarships to pursue a Training or Master’s Programme in development at universities in Belgium. Scholarships cover tuition fees, accomodations, allowances, travel expenses, and other program-related expenses.

Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships for International Students

A new scholarship program, Master Mind Scholarships, has been launched by the Government of Flanders to promote the internationalization of Flemish higher education.  Up to 35 scholarships will be awarded to outstanding Master students worldwide. An incoming student is awarded a scholarship of up to 7.500 Euros per academic year. The Flemish Host Institution can charge the applicant a maximum of 100 Euro per year in tuition fees.

Erasmus Mundus Programmes in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation

Erasmus Mundus Master’s degrees and PhD degrees at Belgian universities are eligible for study grants.

Science@Leuven Scholarships for International Students

Science@Leuven Scholarships are for motivated and talented international students who want to study in an international master program at the Faculty of Science of K.U.Leuven. The scholarship can be up to 10,000 Euro for one year. Scholarships will always cover 1 year’s tuition, insurance, and basic health insurance. Living expenses will vary.

Ghent University Top-up Grants for Developing Countries

Candidates from all countries on the OESO-DAC list who wish to obtain a master’s degree at Ghent University are eligible for Top-up Grants. The scholarship includes a monthly allowance of 1,000 euros and all-inclusive health insurance.

Liege Heritage Foundation Scholarships for International Students

The University of Liege offers scholarships to both EU and non-EU students wishing to study a Master’s Degree or PhD at the University.

ARES Scholarships

The ARES awards an average of 150 master’s scholarships and 70 training scholarships each year to nationals of developing countries. Scholarships cover international travel expenses, living allowances, tuition fees, insurance, housing allowances, etc.

Belgian American Education Foundation Fellowships

Citizens or permanent residents of the United States are encouraged to apply for fellowships at a Belgian University or institution of higher learning funded by the Belgian American Educational Foundation (B.A.E.F. ). Up to ten fellowships will be awarded, each carrying a stipend of $28,000 for Master’s and Ph.D. students or $32,000 for Post-doctoral Fellows.
